Role Summary:
Our client, a leading lighting manufacturer and reseller located just north of London, specializes in delivering high-quality, innovative lighting products to the commercial office refurbishment market, primarily serving electrical contractors.
We are seeking a Lighting Design Consultant to provide additional technical support to their internal sales team, ensuring customer needs are consistently met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
Lighting Design: Interpret customer requirements from drawings, specifications, and email descriptions to create industry-standard lighting designs using Relux or Dialux software.
Project Documentation: Manage various types of enquiries, including verbal descriptions, sketches, technical drawings, and detailed specifications.
Proposal Creation: Generate quantified spreadsheets of lighting requirements, including our part numbers, ready for quoting through OGL ProfitPlus software.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with UK account managers to ensure timely and accurate proposal preparation.
The ideal qualifications for this role would likely include:
Degree in Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering - A formal education in a relevant field provides a strong technical foundation.
Certification or Advanced Training in Lighting Design Software (Relux, Dialux) - Proficiency in these programs is critical for producing accurate and industry-standard lighting designs.
Knowledge of CIBSE Standards - Familiarity with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) standards is essential, as it ensures that designs meet UK regulations for commercial lighting.
Experience with Technical Drawing Interpretation - Either through formal coursework or experience, the ability to read and scale technical drawings (PDF, DWG) is vital.
Basic CAD Skills - While not mandatory, skills in CAD software for creating or amending drawings would be advantageous.
Strong Microsoft Excel Skills - This role requires quantifying lighting needs and creating detailed proposals, so proficiency in Excel is necessary.
