Summary of Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer to build, configure, administer, and support a wide range of Azure infrastructure technologies and solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with modern DevOps patterns, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a global team to build and maintain secure, optimized, and user-focused cloud services. This will report to the Infrastructure & Operations Lead, and with work closely with the IT & Digital Teams.
Key Responsibilities Infrastructure Design & Implementation:
Build, configure, and support infrastructure technologies including computing, storage, networking, virtual infrastructure, and software solutions using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and open-source packages in cloud computing environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
Translate logical designs into physical designs and produce detailed technical documentation using required standards and tools, including prototyping where appropriate
Design systems that balance business needs with technical complexity, risk, and maintainability
Service Delivery & Problem Management:
Own and manage issues until resolution or transferred to a new owner
Coordinate the investigation of problems, implement solutions, and deploy preventive measures
Analyse and assess the impact of incidents, develop change requests, and implement changes
Diagnose and prioritize incidents, identify root causes, and implement resolutions
Security & Compliance:
Demonstrate an understanding of information security principles and apply appropriate security controls to mitigate threats
Maintain secure configurations, control IT assets, and verify the location and state of critical components
Standards & Best Practices:
Apply and promote a modern DevOps approach to infrastructure management
Identify and contribute to process optimization opportunities
Ensure effective documentation of work and adherence to industry best practices
Technical Support & Maintenance:
Assist in the design and support of components for larger systems.
Build and test simple interfaces between systems and work on complex integrations as part of a wider team.
Use management system software and tools to collect performance statistics, investigate issues, and create reports.
Perform routine configuration, installation, and reconfiguration of databases and related products, optimizing performance and forecasting resource needs.
Execute test scripts under supervision and understand the role of testing in the development lifecycle.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Essential:
In-depth knowledge of ITIL lifecycle or capability elements
Demonstrable knowledge of modern DevOps principles and patterns
Demonstrable experience of Azure and Linux
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to break down problems to diagnose root causes
Effective collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a global team
Ability to maintain secure configurations and asset control
Capability to build, test, and maintain system interfaces
Proficient in managing and optimizing database systems and related tools
English language
